These days, many people have the outlook that electric cars, or EVs, are very overrated. People use the heavy taxes that EVs give them and pollution from the battery factories against electric vehicles. These are good arguments against electric vehicles. Taxes on EVs can get large regarding electricity bills. Factories that produce the large batteries for electric vehicles have a large carbon footprint. But, lower maintenance costs and easier availability to fuel up suggest that EVs have many benefits. These benefits are ones that gasoline vehicles do not have. I have experienced the pains of maintenance on cars and I will tell you, it is not fun. From changing oil in the differential to changing a taillight, it is never easy, regardless the job.

We all know how gasoline vehicles have lubricating oils and a transmission to make driving easier on the engine. These are very crucial to the operation of the vehicle. However, oils have to be changed often and transmissions are always prone to break. To replace these important components it costs money. It can often cost lots of money if the situation is bad enough. In EVs, this is a different case. EVs do not have transmissions, so you will not have to worry about having to get it fixed or replaced. EVs also do not have oil, since there is nothing to lubricate in the motor. This can save significant amounts of time and money for you. Also, the engines in gasoline vehicles are very loud and noisy. In an EV, there is just a smooth hum of the motor accelerating.

When you drive a gasoline car, you constantly have to drive to the gas station. You fill up the car, then go all the way back home. With an EV, this can be a different story. Some people prefer not to install a charger in their home because of the larger electricity bill it creates. However, having a charger in your home can be very convenient at times. The good thing about it is the fact that it saves so much time. The downside of the in-home-charger is that it increases your electricity bill drastically. This is a major make or break for lots of people. The overall pro of having an EV is the zero tailpipe emissions. While gasoline vehicles are sputtering out dangerous carbons into the atmosphere, EVs cruise along with no harm.

Overall, there are many pros and cons to driving an EV compared to driving a gasoline vehicle. Although EVs are usually much lower maintenance and are more comfortable cars compared to gasoline vehicles, such as not having a transmission or oil and not having a loud engine, gasoline vehicles offer overall better prices. Gasoline vehicles also do not increase your electricity bill drastically like EVs do.
