Most people have a sibling. They know the annoyance of opening the pantry and seeing the snack you were so excited to eat is missing. They know the frustration of asking where it went and their sibling saying they ate it.

Having a sibling causes a very interesting dynamic. It’s a very unique feeling of absolute hate and distain but as soon as you as you hear someone else talk bad about them, you are ready to throw down for them. There are no other relationships quite like that of a sibling bond, but there is one specific sibling bond that is the strongest.

What makes twins so special

Twins have such a unique set of sibling bonds. Most can’t even imagine what it would be like to have a sibling matching you at even point in life. Growing up in the same exact environment at the same age forms an incredibly strong bond. This bond starts all the way in utero. This leads to a level of understanding like no other.

You may have thought, at least once in your life, about how nice it would be to have a twin. That you would have a built-in best friend. When you are a twin, you don’t often face the challenges of a new environment alone. This leads to a sense of safety in your twin. Regular siblings often don’t have this because you are different ages so are at different stages of life.

When starting school twins don’t have to be worried about making friends or being alone at lunch. There is stability and less anxiety in everyday life. They also have more developed social skills because of growing up together.

Many of you have probably heard of twin telepathy in which twins can communicate with their minds to each other. Now this has been disprover, but they can do something similar. They can often get an in deep understanding of the other’s emotions and ideas. Which is why people confused it with telepathy. This has come from growing up together in the same environment and spending the majority of their lives together.

A sentence that often is associated with twins is “cradle to grave.” This saying shows the deep connection that twins have. They were born together so they wish to die together. They often speak of the agony that is living without your twin by your side.

The bonds between the pairs are truly beautiful things that we as a society can only watch and admire.
