What are your thoughts on AI? Are they good or bad? Movies over the years have led people to believe that AI is evil, but I believe that AI is here for our benefit and I here to share just one of the many reasons why
First let’s start with the definition of AI. AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. In short words that just means it’s technology that is programmed to learn the same as a human brain. Sometimes you don’t even notice your surrounded by AI. For example, Alexa and Siri are great examples of AI in our everyday lives.
While some think AI will harm our civilization, the contrary is actually happening. AI is currently being implemented into the medical field, and it has already had major impacts in the field of medicine.

How is AI benefiting healthcare?
One major benefit of AI in the medical field is their predictive algorithms. Their able to analyze a patient and their vitals, then use a predictive algorithm to detect diseases before any doctor could. Catching Diseases early can have major positive effects because doctors can slow the disease progression early giving them more time. Catching diseases early will also make easier to treat. Many fatal diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Diseases, would have a major impact on decreasing the fatality rates of these diseases saving many people lives
If saving lives isn’t enough for you AI is also being implemented in to do the bulk work. AI is also being used to schedule patients, fill out charts, find patient history, and even monitor patient’s vitals.
Some would argue that this would replace the need for human jobs, but I completely disagree. AI isn’t replacing their jobs it’s helping with them. If anything, AI creates more jobs because AI specialists and data analysts are needed to maintain the AI systems.
Surgical Precision: How will AI affect the OR
AI is currently being tested to see if it will be able to revolutionize surgery. If it succeeds it will have a tremendous impact on how surgery is done. It will assist surgeons with surgeries that require little room for human error making the surgeries much safer. This change is so huge that it will take a while to test it and work out the kinks, but once it is added, I believe it will be one of the greatest advancements in the field of medicine.

Overall, AI is here for our benefit especially when it comes to healthcare. Whether it’s catching diseases early, doing the bulk work, or even revolutionizing surgical procedures. While some still believe AI is here to destroy us and steal our jobs, I believe AI will bring many major improvements to the medical field.
