You may or may not have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) ADHD is super common and is one of the most diagnosed disorders which affects 11% of children 4 to 17. ADHD makes you lose focus on work, make you want to fidget with anything and move around not being able to sit still. If you have some of these symptoms you may have ADHD, but just because you have those symptoms doesn’t mean you have ADHD. 

Those symptoms can be a lot of things, for example anxiety can have those exact symptoms. And a lot of people diagnosed with ADHD have anxiety thinking they have both. In reality they might actually and if diagnosed with both they will be treated in different ways. Anxiety and ADHD have similar and different symptoms. ADHD on one side makes your brain not be able to slow down and keep feeding your brain different thoughts. Anxiety gives you thoughts that feel like you will be punished if you don’t do something and bring more attention to what your classmates think of you.

The Dangers of Misdiagnoses 

Being misdiagnosed can lead to many negative effects. Misdiagnoses is when you think you have adhd but don’t and take medication for people with ADHD. Taking certain types of medication can lead to many problems for you down the road. For example ratlin is a prescription drug used to treat ADHD misuse of this drug can cause major consequences. It can cause insomnia, seizures, anxiety, heart palpitations, eyesight changes and overdose. All of these are really bad and are potentially life altering.

In conclusion, if you think you have ADHD and don’t know or are worried about the dangers, the first course of action should be to go to a doctor and get a professional to diagnose you. This is the best way that you can prevent being misdiagnosed and reaping the consequences of being misdiagnosed.
