Many conspiracies theories continue to make people rethink the truths of today’s world and media. One of the biggest examples of this is the moon landing, which a large group of people believe was staged. The flag’s waving in the vacuum of space is one leading example for these conspiracists. Discrepancies in the footprints and the equipment used have also been cited because of the mismatch between Neil Armstrong’s preserved space suit and the footprint on the moon. These theories don’t appear very convincing at the moment but, looking deeper into them later will make some of you rethink what you think you already know.
Space is a vacuum which means that there is no air resistance causing objects in motion to continue to move until acted upon by another force. This causing people to think that the flag that was planted into the moon shouldn’t be able to “wave” because it is in a vacuum. A very popular picture is of Buzz Aldrin saluting the flag while it ripples which theoretically shouldn’t be possible in a vacuum. NASA was not a fan of this theory, so they came out and said that the flag had a horizontal rod to keep it extended but this wasn’t enough to get rid of the theorists. They still believed and said that the rod was not enough to keep the flag standing.
While the wave theory has been disproved by NASA and has lost believers the idea of Neil Armstrong’s equipment not matching the ones in the picture still has a very large fan base. Days after the moon landing, Neil showed the public all of his gear that he used during the landing and none of it matched the footprints or marks that were left on the moon. This was a table turner for the believers in this theory mainly because NASA had nothing to say about it, making it a lot more believable.
The moon landing, one of humanity’s greatest achievements, has been accused with these theories since Neil Armstrong’s historic steps in 1969. Despite intense evidence and scientific truths, some still question the authenticity of the moon landing. The behavior of the flag, and the absence of stars in the lunar sky and leading reasons for believers. By exploring these claims, we aim to separate fact from fiction and understand why such myths persist in the face of undeniable proof. Posted by
