Have you said something straight from your mind and as soon as you said it you knew it was wrong? Well, have you done something so fast and impulsive that when you’re mid doing it your brain tells you that it’s wrong? We all have made poor decisions in our lives so far. Whether it’s not completing homework, calling someone names, or just doing something completely wrong and regretful. Well, that’s called underthinking.
Underthinking is simple, it is when most people do not think about their actions. Underthinking is just as bad as overthinking. This can affect numerous people. Underthinking can lead to someone getting mentally and/or physically hurt. Possibly worse. What I mean by this is that when your brain could tell you to do something. But then you don’t think about what could happen after. Underthinking is also known as an “impulse decision.”
Article One states “While overthinkers often obsess over little details, under thinkers usually don’t give too much thought to the consequences of their actions.” The author’s point is that those people might not care if someone gets hurt and will most likely do that action again. Most of the time underthinking can be a terrible thing. With under thinking you can have a great thought but a horrible execution. For example, someone might be driving on a road they don’t know. Then they realise that their in the wrong lane and try to cross over immediately. They are not looking in their blind spot and then they cost their life and someone else’s life because they didn’t think about their decision.
According to Article Two “While underthinking can be a powerful tool, it’s crucial to recognize its limits.” The writer is stating that underthinking has its limits. It’s okay to go up to someone new but it is not okay to change lanes impulsively. Sometimes underthinking can be a great thing. Underthinking isn’t always terrible. It can lead you to new opportunities and experiences. Underthinking can be good only when it is a minor decision. For example, talking to someone new. Others might sit and think about the person’s reaction if they talk to them. Others might just do it without thinking anything about it. And they might’ve made a new friend that day.
Article Three says “It can save time and prevent getting bogged down by irrelevant details and streamline processes to maintain efficiency.” In other words, this author believes that underthinking. This is for people who like to try different things. Or often use the word YOLO. Yolo isn’t an awful word. It is just for the people who use it while making poor decisions. Although underthinking can lead to something can lead to you making a new friend. Underthinking can still cause a lot of mistakes that you cannot undo. Therefore, underthinking is the wrong answer to many thoughts and decisions in life. You don’t want to just go for it but you don’t want to get all up in your head either.
Some may say underthinking is always good. To summarize what I said before just think about what could happen if you don’t think. You might regret that action for a very long time. Others may say underthinking is always bad. I don’t think so because different scenarios can lead to different outcomes. At the end of the day. Underthinking can lead to many life-changing things. You as a human being should know how to think and execute your thought. So the next time you need to act fast, ask yourself, is it worth it? Also just sit and think about what might change in the next 30 seconds or 30 years.
