As a Junior at Carrollton High school I have been encouraged to look into colleges everyday for around a year. My whole life I’ve never really known what I wanted to do after school, but I knew this; my top three interests are art, fashion, and travel. So when picking out this topic for my focus project, I picked the one I knew the least about. I’ve always loved fashion and have hoped to represent my own style with the things I wear everyday, but I don’t know the history of it or why it’s so interesting to me.

Living in Georgia, I’ve realized that my best bet after high school is University of Georgia, I have a goal to stay in state to prevent student loans as much as possible to set me up good for after college. When searching for colleges I’ve found out these things about my interests: Almost every school in Georgia offers art majors, but they’d leave me with the least amount of money moving forward. The only college I am interested in that offers a fashion major- fashion merchandising- is UGA. And if I pursue a career that allows me to travel, such as a flight attendant, college is not needed for that.

I understand that all of these jobs do not provide the most money but I also understand that I am the type of person that if I do not enjoy something, I will have no motivation to do it and I most likely won’t at all.

While writing these blogs I’ve realized that pursuing a career in fashion would be something that I would enjoy everyday because it is the type of job that never gets boring. If I ended up as a Fashion Designer even at a small company I could also include my other interest in art by using my creative abilities to come up with new designs and influences everyday.

I’ve really been researching the Fashion merchandising major that UGA offers and that is now my main focus for after high school and it would be very interesting and helpful to use these blogs for my applications and hopefully secure a spot to do something that I know I will love for the rest of my life.
