So now that we are getting reviews of the 5070, the public opinion of the card has come to light and it is not great. The general census is that it’s barely an upgrade from the 4070 and Nvidia’s claim that it has 4090 performance is a foggy faded dream at best. The performance increase being only 20% over the 4070 is no were near 4090 levels, but then how can they say that, wouldn’t that be false advertising?, you might ask, it’s not far from it I would reply. This 4090 performance is only possible by cranking DLSS 4.0 to 4x frame rate which no matter the product, saying that a product is better than last years with the huge asterisks that you have to use ai to get there is ridiculous. And with Nvidia’s recently apparent shift away from pure performance I’m strongly considering switching to team red (AMD GPU’s).

Thoughts on my final project…

I put a good amount of effort into my focus final project, not nearly close to the standard I had set for myself, but when I realized that explaining all of this in front of the class was going to be extremely difficult with the inevitable stage fright cut down the explanations to make things more understandable despite the fact that I felt I didn’t do the topic justice. there were many points I missed when giving my presentation that I feel were critical to understanding my stance on the subject, but that I completely forgot when presenting. For example, I wanted to mention that the lack of a raw power increase could eventually snow ball in years to come leaving the gaming community behind, something that I talked about in my earlier blog posts. But I am glad that I can put forth the thoughts that I had immediately after my presentation that if unheard would have made me look a tad bit careless. This paragraph contains an inaccuracy that I noticed when citing my sources,” The first issue I have with the 5070 is the raw performance, in an article on User benchmark they found that 50 series cards tend to have only a 20% increase in performance , which makes the $549 price a hard justification if your upgrading, however you might be happy if you get one new card but you can also probably find a cheaper 4070 and live with being 20% less happy.”, highlighted in blue. This is incorrect the user benchmark website states bluntly and somehow I did not notice, even though the paragraph was the same one I got my percentages from.

Finally…

To sum it up, I didn’t do half as much as I would have liked, and did more than twice as much as less than half of you would have understood, and besides this being a parody of a Bilbo Baggins quote, for the most part it’s true.

These are all of the sources I used through out my focus project.
