The path of Catholicism is an insanely conflicting one, it’s like taking a drive down an old dirt road at night, hidden in the most secret parts of the forest. No lights, no guide. You’ll be lucky to get help from your GPS … Which probably won’t work because of your crappy internet connection. Unlike any other though, with a little perseverance and a whole lot of patience, the destination is rewarding.
Today, on Earth as we know it, there’s anywhere from 2.3 to 2.6 billion Christians walking right now. Out of that 2.3 to 2.6 billion, only 1.4 billion of those Christians are Catholic. That’s only 17.7% of the Earth’s population. Big numbers, I know, I hate them too. But I felt that statistics were needed in order to properly exemplify just exactly what we’re getting into, and just how widespread it’s starting to become.
I myself am a part of the 1.4 billion Catholics that currently walk the Earth. I’m assuming most of my readers will not be, which is okay, my sole purpose with writing this is to bring light to the true meaning of Catholicism. To debunk the stereotypes and stigmas that swarm it like bees do a hive. So to those of you who’ve made it thus far, welcome!
As a child I heard a lot of the things people had to say about Catholicism. Very rare was it that someone had something neutral to say, or even positive. 90% of my experience was based in negative comments, snarky remarks, and sarcastic sayings that misconstrued the teachings of Catholicism. It left people with nothing short of a preconceived notion that Catholics were heretics. This is not true at all, in fact, it’s the exact opposite.
In my life as a Catholic people have said many different things about me, and my religious choices. They’ve called me a heretic, they’ve claimed that I commit idolatry, some have even gone as far to say that “I have a spot reserved in hell,” but nonetheless, it’s not something to dive into in this blog. That’s why I’ll be doing a deep dive in the blog coming up.
I’ll see you there!
